Seeking Public Comment on Draft Compatibility Determinations

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge is seeking public review and comment on Draft Compatibility Determinations for activities conducted by non-service personnel on the refuge, including Research and Surveys, Wildlife Observation and Photography, and Environmental Education and Interpretation. The refuge proposes permitting these activities, where it does not compromise the mission and operations of the national wildlife refuge national wildlife refuge
A national wildlife refuge is typically a contiguous area of land and water managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service  for the conservation and, where appropriate, restoration of fish, wildlife and plant resources and their habitats for the benefit of present and future generations of Americans.

. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) will accept comments for the Draft Compatibility Determination for Research and Surveys received or postmarked on or before May 30, 2025. The Service will accept comments for the Draft Compatibility Determinations for Wildlife Observation and Photography and Environmental Education and Interpretation received or postmarked on or before June 11, 2025.
